"True shape" is a trend in the sawmill industry. Traditional measurements made with light curtains do not give enough information to control the in-feed and saw blades for an optimal use of the log.

SICK IVP Ruler is the first 3D system that meets to the needed accuracy and speed requirements. In a typical log scanner, three or four SICK IVP Rulers are used to acquire a full 3D map of the log.
