Portioning of food

The use of automated portioning of fillets from fish, poultry or meat is increasing in the food industry. SICK IVP Ranger is the perfect system to measure volume to a high accuracy in this application. SICK IVP Ranger calculates virtual slices of the piece and sends the information to a control system that calculates the optimal cut position. A servo controlled knife or a water jet equipment then makes the actual cutting.

The fillet passes the camera and laser on a conveyor belt. The camera communicates with a controlling system that executes a cut with the rotating knife in exactly the right position.
