In the food distribution chain standardized crates are commonly used. To allow the trays to both be hand-carried and stacked they have moveable handles that also serves as stacking support areas, if they are located in the right position.

To allow automated stacking of the crates up to several meters of height, the handles must be in the right position. The consequence of misplaced handles is that the stack falls and thereby hundreds of kilos of valuable food produce will be ruined.
